Working on balancing your life and health takes work. You spend each day focused on your job and family. You try to plan and eat healthy meals and add in 30 minutes of exercise. There are great days and not so great days. Reward yourself for the progress you have made and the goals you are working toward accomplishing. Take time out for a little rest and relaxation. You can create a spa at home, which will help you stay within your budget and allow you to indulge in this “mini getaway” whenever you feel the need to relieve stress or simply have a little “me time”. Here is how:
Make your bathroom cozy and comfy
This is special time for you. Make the room feel special. Add basket of towels, a soft rug, your favorite music, flowers and scented candles (all of these suggestions are optional but it makes you feel like you’re really doing something for yourself).
Do not Disturb
Hang your “Do Not Disturb” sign.
I found this “Relaxation in Progress” door sign on Etsy and thought it was perfect.
When you hang your sign, you are letting everyone in the home know that you are taking a little break.
You’re almost ready
You’re almost there, just a few more details before you indulge…..
Take out your favorite robe and slippers I love soft, plush robes, just like the ones you put on at the spa. Be sure to gather your body wash, bath salts, and body lotion so you have everything you need in one place.
Enjoy your time
I love to use this time to give myself a mini facial. While the bath water is running, I apply a facial mask. It’s the perfect time to use either a deep cleansing or hydrating mask. Once I’m in the tub, I apply the eye mask so I can lean against my neck pillow for the bath and listen to my music for a few minutes. It’s the perfect way to start your “spa retreat” and when you add an eye mask entices you to sit back, relax and enjoy the moment.
Use this time to make it all about you. Wash and condition your hair. Polish your nails. Read a chapter in book or flip through a magazine.
Share your favorite bath and spa brands and rituals
I’d love to hear about your “spa time”. In the comments, please tell me about some of your favorite brands and rituals for your home spa and bath.

Hi Lorrie,
I enjoyed reading your post on jumping rope because that is my favorite form of exercise for all the reasons you have mentioned.
Here is an interesting thing that has happened to me since I started using rope jumping as a regular form of exercise. I have become more in tune with my body to the point that I can tell when I am starting to breathe out of sink with my my muscles. Has that happened to you?
Lorrie Pearson
HI Thabo! Thanks for taking a moment to comment. Cardio activity will change your heart rate and may breathing pattern. Yes, it has happened to me. That can mean that you’re doing a bit more than you should. Suggestion is to slow it down. If it happens often, check with your doctor.
Robert
Totally love the idea.
Really love your suggestions. The custom or special scents that fill the area sounds like real therapy. In addition I would have never thought of a sign to keep it quiet during that time. Quiet. That is soothing.
Thank you for your opening my eyes. Have to get on this right away before the scent wears off.
What is your favorite idea for the bathroom?
Lorrie Pearson
Hi Robert! Thanks for you comments.
One of my favorite scents for the bathroom or home is by Jo Malone called Pomegranate Noir
I also like to change the rugs and shower curtains to reflect the seasons.Like these from Horchow
Hope this ideas help.
