Many people are focusing on clean eating. The first time I heard the term, I thought, what is that? I understood diet, exercise, vegan and vegetarian, but clean eating was a totally new term for me, so I decided to do some research.

What exactly is clean eating?

Clean eating is complete lifestyle change that involves eating healthy good for you foods that will nourish your body so that you become leaner and healthier.

What I learned…
We all know that there are many chemicals and preservatives in foods, but my during my research about clean eating, I truly received an education. This post is not going to go deep into the subject of chemicals in foods, but may I suggest you carefully read the labels and choose to eat fresh whenever possible.

How to eat clean?

Go for the fruits and vegetables. Fruits and veggies are better for you and your body can usually digest these foods much faster and easier than the processed alternatives.

Opt for grains Brown rice, whole grains, whole wheat are the best choices. Try oatmeal, it’s a great option for breakfast. Barley is tasty in soups.

Meats are good, but opt for butcher selections instead of prepackaged items.

Read all labels Sometimes you will pick up a package that advertises a “good for you” ingredient, but when you read the label, you discover it’s one of the last ingredients on the list. Also look out for products with high sodium or fat content.

That's it bar
Try new foods with fewer ingredients. I tried a fruit bar recently and it only had just apple and blueberry. It was very tasty and filling, and of course, much better for me than the granola bar I was about to purchase.

Eat healthy fats but don’t over do it. There are fat’s that are good for you.  Choose olive oil, flaxseed oil, salmon, walnuts, avocados, olives, dark chocolate, tuna, tofu, edamame and sunflower seeds.

Conclusion

Clean eating is a lifestyle change. If you work towards making better choices you will find yourself eating cleaner and healthier. You body will feel healthier too.
